BEST RESTAURANTS IN NORTH WALES
If you are looking for the best places to eat in North Wales, then you have come to the right place. There are tons of exquisite restaurants in North Wales that are sure to appeal to all different tastes and dietary requirements. From Michelin recommended eateries to popular chain restaurants, there is something for preferences and budgets.
We thought we’d use our knowledge and experience of the local area to put together a short list of the best restaurants in North Wales to take into consideration the next time you are visiting your holiday home at Bryn Defaid Holiday Park. Let’s kick off with our very own fancy restaurant in Abergele…
The Cliffs Bar & Restaurant
Located on the grounds of our sister resort, Tan Rallt Holiday Park, the Cliffs Bar & Restaurant has built a reputation for exceptional quality. Here, our expert catering team utilise fresh ingredients from the local area to create a selection of dishes which are simply out of this world.
Popular menu options here include our stone baked pizzas, classic burgers on a brioche bun and sensational pies which are served with chips, mushy peas and gravy. The Cliffs is always in high demand, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment. A particular favourite with devotees is our Sunday Lunch menu where you are served roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, roast vegetables, cauliflower cheese and gratin potatoes along with your choice of meats.
Surrounded by stunning Abergele countryside on the grounds of Tan Rallt Holiday Park, you’ll be able to marvel at the majestic views in a relaxed family atmosphere.
Bryn Williams at Porth Eirias
Denbigh born Bryn Williams cut his teeth working alongside world renowned chefs such as Marco Pierre White and Michel Roux in some of their most famous restaurants. He has truly absorbed all the tricks of the trade from these great masters and has now returned to his home region heading up the catering team at his eponymous restaurant on the Colwyn Bay seafront at Porth Eirias.
Unsurprisingly, the restaurant has picked up a Michelin award for producing excellent cuisine at moderate prices, otherwise known as the Michelin Bib Gourmand award. Open from 9:30am daily, there are separate breakfast, lunch and dinner menu options. Apart from the breakfast menu, there is a heavy fish focus in deference to the seaside location. This includes the popular fish fingers with fries, crushed peas and tartar sauce and their sharable fish pie.
The Jackdaw
Another local boy to have travelled to the big city to develop his skills under the stewardship of a celebrity chef is Nick Rudge. Born in Llandudno, Nick worked with Heston Blumenthal at The Fat Duck restaurant in Maidenhead.
He returned to the area in 2021 with what has turned out to be one of the best restaurants in Conwy. The Jackdaw offers a distinctive tasting menu that showcases Welsh ingredients and British culinary techniques. Highlights of the menu include Welsh beef, salt duck and dishes which utilise seafood caught locally such as their Llyn scallops.
Dylan’s Restaurant
Dylan’s is a small restaurant chain indigenous to the North Wales region who now own four restaurants in Llandudno, Conwy, Menai Bridge and Criccieth. Founded in 2012 with its Menai Bridge restaurant, Dylan’s aims to celebrate local produce in North Wales with a seafood inspired menu which is available alongside pizzas, pastas and burgers.
The closest Dylan’s Restaurant to Bryn Defaid Holiday Park is on the seafront in Llandudno in a spectacular Grade II listed building which was once home to the Washington Hotel. This ensures a spectacular dining environment which is reminiscent of a classic American diner.
Vegetarian and gluten free menu items are available alongside a dedicated children’s menu, with all four Dylan’s Restaurants providing a family friendly ambience.
The White Lion Inn
Located just outside of the main town of Colwyn Bay is The White Lion Inn. It offers what could well be the best pub food in Colwyn Bay with a selection of British classics which are freshly prepared on-site using as much Welsh produce as possible. This has led to them earning numerous awards over the years, including being named the best gastropub in North Wales.
Popular menu options include their Sunday Roast Dinner and on other days of the week we would highly recommend their white lion burger and Somerset chicken, both of which are served with thick cut chips.
You will also be able to select from a variety of real ales at The White Lion, with their selection resulting in them appearing in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. Another perk is the aesthetic of the pub which is in keeping with that of a traditional British pub, with an oldy world low beamed ceiling, slate flooring and log fires which are heaven during the winter months.
