Despite being located in the midst of North Wales countryside, Bryn Defaid Holiday Park is located less than four miles away from Colwyn Bay beach and its newly refurbished promenade which has helped turn it into one of the most modern and spectacular seaside towns in the UK.
Colwyn Bay is the ultimate traditional British seaside resort, with the beach and promenade being complimented by a plethora of facilities, eateries and attractions which are sure to keep all members of the family entertained.
To help you plan your next day out in Colwyn Bay, we thought we’d provide you with a little more information in case you aren’t well acquainted with this popular seaside resort.
Driving to Colwyn Bay Beach
Colwyn Bay beach is located just a 3.8 mile drive away from our holiday park. In total it should take you little more than 10 minutes to reach, with the Colwyn Bay beach postcode being LL29 8ED.
If you enter this postcode, you will be taken directly to the seafront where you will find plenty of parking opportunities in all but the hottest of summer days. There is a fee for parking here, so we would recommend taking change with you or else be prepared to use the Pay By Phone system.
There are plenty of other Colwyn Bay beach car parking spots to choose from in the rare event that you fail to find one on the seafront. This includes the Bay View car park (LL29 8DW) which is connected to the popular town centre shopping centre and at Colwyn Bay Train Station (LL29 8DF).
Is Colwyn Bay Beach Dog Friendly?
Dogs are allowed on Colwyn Bay Beach year round as long as you stick to the Western part of the beach near Porth Eirias. The rest of Colwyn Bay beach is dog friendly between the months of October and April.
You are also welcome to walk your dog along the Colwyn Bay promenade throughout the year as long as they are kept on a lead at all times. Cleaning up after your dog is also a requirement, so make sure that you bring the necessary accessories.
Things to do near Colwyn Bay Beach
With its soft golden sands, shallow and clean waters and plethora of facilities, there are plenty of great things to do on Colwyn Bay Beach. This includes all of the traditional British seaside day out favourites including building sandcastles, paddling, sampling the local ice creams and treating yourself to a bag of fish & chips.
However, the recent renovation of Colwyn Bay promenade has completely rejuvenated the area adding plenty of additional facilities and activities for all members of the family. Here you’ll find hopscotch boards, quirky musical instruments, educational fun & games and even USB charging points on many of the seafront seating where you can charge your phone, iPad or computer. Colwyn Bay beach also recently became the first beach in North Wales to offer complimentary Wi-Fi access ensuring that you won’t ever find yourself disconnected from the modern world, unless you really want to be that is.
If you aren’t one for sitting still, then you may prefer to take a walk along the North Wales Coastal Path that Colwyn Bay promenade forms a part of. With a total length of 60 miles, it's unlikely that you are going to be completing the entire route. However, you can walk along as far as you see fit with alternative seaside destination Rhos-on-Sea on one side and Abergele/Pensarn slightly further along in the other direction.
The walk to Rhos-on-Sea is little more than 1.5 miles away from the Bryn Williams Restaurant on the seafront at Porth Eirias. Popular visitor attractions here include the Rhos-on-Sea beach, a fun crazy golf course and the Rhos-on-Sea paddling pool which is great for the little ones.
