BEST GOLF COURSES IN NORTH WALES
One of the reasons why some of our holiday home owners choose to purchase a lodge or static caravan at Bryn Defaid Holiday Park is on account of the wealth of world renowned golf courses in North Wales, many of which offer exceptional coastal views and provide a challenge to even the most seasoned golfer.
Our resort is located close to many of the very best golf courses in Wales, one of which is right on the doorstep of our sister resort, Tan Rallt Holiday Park in Abergele. We thought it might be helpful to provide our owners with a run down of the best golf clubs in Wales that are available in the region around our resort so that you can decide for yourself which club is the right option for you irrespective of whether you are looking to become a fully fledged golf club member or merely pay a visit for a one off session.
Without further ado, here are a few that you may want to take into consideration…
Silver Birch Golf Club
Pario Leisure enjoys a long term partnership with Silver Birch Golf Club which is located in the Abergele countryside just minutes away from our sister resort Tan Rallt Holiday Park.
The club was opened in 1995 with two 9 hole golf courses which were designed by renowned golf course architect Stuart Finney. Finney has made full use of the picturesque location, providing players with stunning coastal and mountain views which are truly inspiring to behold.
You don’t have to be a member to enjoy Silver Birch Golf Club, which offers very reasonable green fees. The front nine hole course is your typical parkland configuration, while the back 9 is the one that can prove to be a significant challenge on account of its tree lined fairway.
While it is a great course for a game of golf, Silver Birch is perhaps more famous for being the home of Footgolf in Wales. You can try this increasingly popular game for yourself at Silver Birch, with footgolf often proving to be a far more accessible sport for young children than the more technical traditional game of golf.
Other Welsh Golf Courses
There are plenty of other golf courses in North Wales to consider in the region surrounding Bryn Defaid Holiday Park. This includes the prestigious Conwy Golf Club which was founded in 1890 and sits on the scenic Morfa Conwy peninsula. From here you can enjoy spectacular views of the North Wales coastline and Conwy Mountain.
This par 72 course is a traditional championship links style course and is renowned for its challenging layout, particularly when the winds from the Irish Sea pick up. Some standout holes include the par 3 13th, which requires accuracy over a series of sand dunes, and the 18th hole, which demands a precise drive and approach shot to finish strong.
Another links style golf course in North Wales to take into consideration nearby is the Llandudno based North Wales Golf Club. Designed in 1894 by the famed Scottish golfer and golf course architect, Jack Morris, play on this par 71 course is heavily influenced by the coastal winds and requires plenty of strategic shots over challenging dunes.
If you are opting for closeness as opposed to challenge, then another nearby Welsh golf club to consider would be Rhos-on-Sea Golf Club. Unlike the others mentioned, this is a parkland course which is relatively flat. However, it does include tree-lined fairways, water hazards, and well-placed bunkers that will challenge players of all abilities.
